'I'm a very innocent man': Trump attacks rule of law after 'rigged' guilty verdict

Donald Trump spoke to the press outside the courtroom where he was found guilty on 34 felony counts in his New York trial about the falsification of business records around the coverup of an alleged affair.

"This was a disgrace," Trump said in his statement. "This is a rigged trial by a conflicted judge who is corrupt. A rigged trial, a disgrace."

He went on to blame the fact that he couldn't get a change of venue for his guilty verdict, saying that the jurors were Democrats thus they could not return a real verdict.

"We were at 5%, or 6% in this district in this area," said Trump. "This is a rigged, disgraceful trial. The real verdict is going to be November 5th by the people."

The election is on Nov. 5, 2024, the verdict was delivered on Thursday. Sentencing will be July 11, the judge said.

"They know what happened here and everybody knows what happened here," continued Trump. "You have the [George] Soros D.A. The whole thing. We didn't do a thing wrong. I'm a very innocent man. It's okay. I'm fighting for our country. I'm fighting for our Constitution. Our whole country is being rigged now. This was done by the Biden administration in order to move or hurt an opponent, a political opponent. And I think it's just a disgrace."

He rambled on about fighting and winning before attacking the United States as a whole, saying it has "gone to hell" and saying it is no longer the same country it once was.

"We have a divided mess. With a nation, millions and millions of people pouring into our country right now from prisons and from mental institutions, terrorists. And they're taking over our country. We have a country that's in big trouble. But this was a rigged decision, right from day one. With a conflicted judge who should never have been allowed to try this case, never. And we will fight for our constitution. Thank you very much," he finished.

The judge did not make the decision in the case. The jury gives the verdict.
