Trump tried to shake down reporters to show his letter from Kim Jong-Un: ‘How much’ cash will you give me?

President Donald Trump's unique attempts at foreign diplomacy have continued on despite the partial government shutdown closing the U.S. State Department.

One of Trump's purported priorities for 2019 is North Korea.

On Christmas Eve, Trump claimed to be working and announced a second summit with Kim Jong-un in the new year.

At Trump's contentions cabinet meeting on Wednesday, he praised a letter he said he'd received from the North Korean leader, The New York Timesreported.

“Those few people that I’ve shown this letter to, they’ve never written letters like that," Trump claimed. "This is a great letter."

This was not the first time Trump has celebrated their correspondence. At a campaign rally in September, the commander-in-chief revealed how the letters had affected him.

“He wrote me beautiful letters,” Trump told the crowd. “And they’re great letters."

"We fell in love," Trump added.

Trump even asked reporters what they would give him to see one of the letters.

“Oh, would you like to see what was in that letter," Trump said.

“How much?" he asked. "How much?”
