Trump waves the white flag and surrenders to Nancy Pelosi on State of the Union

President Donald Trump on Thursday gave up on his effort to deliver a State of the Union Address despite his shutdown of the federal government.

After 11 p.m. in Washington, DC, Trump admitted he will not be delivering the speech after Speaker Nancy Pelosi uninvited him until his shutdown ended.

"This is her prerogative - I will do the Address when the Shutdown is over," Trump tweeted.

"I am not looking for an alternative venue for the State of the Union Address because there is no venue that can compete with the history, tradition and importance of the House chamber," Trump continued.

"I look forward to giving a 'great' State of the Union Address in the near future!" he added.
