Trump whines that Democrats aren't paying ransom after he took immigrant kids hostage

President Donald Trump on Monday lashed out at Congressional Democrats, whom he once again falsely blamed for his own administration's immigration policies.

"Why don’t the Democrats give us the votes to fix the world’s worst immigration laws?" Trump asked. "Where is the outcry for the killings and crime being caused by gangs and thugs, including MS-13, coming into our country illegally?"

In fact, Republicans have majorities in both the House and the Senate and could pass immigration fixes without Democratic votes if they wanted to do so.

Additionally, it was the Trump administration that decided to separate children from their families as part of its "zero tolerance" immigration policy that criminally prosecutes parents if they illegally cross the U.S.-Mexico border.

The administration has also started separating children from parents who are legally trying to claim asylum in the United States.

The Trump White House over the weekend released multiple, contradictory messages about its family separation policies. Trump blamed the Democrats for the policy, while aide Stephen Miller proudly stated that the policy was an administration decision. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen, meanwhile, falsely claimed that the administration doesn't have a policy of separating children from their families.
