Trump whines Democrats are 'not offering much' for his wall -- and admits he's losing on the issue

President Donald Trump on Saturday lashed out at Democrats for not funding his border wall.

During the 2016 campaign, Trump constantly repeated his promise that Mexico would pay for a concrete wall. When Mexico refused, he attempted to get Congress to fund it, eventually lowering his demand to a steel-slat fence.

Trump then set the record for the longest government shutdown in United States history as part of a failed attempt to force Capitol Hill to pay for his fence.

"The Democrats just don’t seem to want border security," Trump claimed, despite the fact Democrats have repeatedly argued for more effective border security than his proposed wall.

"If you believe news reports, they are not offering much for the wall," Trump complained.

Then Trump seemed to make a startling admission.

"They look to be making this a campaign issue," Trump said, acknowledging the public opinion has been with Democrats on the wall and the government shutdown.

Despite the admission, Trump stubbornly insisted he would keep fighting on the losing political issue.

"The wall will get built one way or the other," he claimed.
