Trump will eventually seek revenge on aides who spoke to Mueller — but not just yet: report

On Thursday, a redacted version of the Mueller report was made public.

The report drew partisan reactions from defenders and opponents of the President and from media organizations seen as largely sympathetic to Trump.

What's clear is that although Mueller did not find conclusive proof of a criminal offense, the report does not cast Trump and members of his administration in a sympathetic light.

On Thursday, Buzzfeed News reported that there are concerns about retaliation by the President against former and current officials who gave unflattering testimony.

"The report includes several accounts from Trump's former White House counsel Don McGahn, former chief of staff Reince Priebus, press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, former communications director Hope Hicks, and former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski, among others interviewed in the course of the nearly two-year-long investigation," Buzzfeed News observes.

"The interviews, pieced together, reveal embarrassing details for the president, like how Trump aides regularly ignored his directives, including instances in which he tried to fire Mueller or limit his jurisdiction."

However, Trump is not expected to lash out -- at least not yet, according to Buzzfeed's reporting.

“The results of the report overshadow any of the comments made by those who cooperated,” a source told Buzzfeed. “But for the foreseeable future his focus is on one thing: winning. And today is a good day for him.”

Given Trump's past penchant for vengeance against those he perceives to have betrayed him, that could always change.
