According to a report from ABC News, a U.S. banker with close ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin enlisted Donald Trump's "Apprentice" producer as a go-between to set up a meeting with Trump after the reality show host became president.
Sources told ABC that congressional investigators are looking at Robert Foresman, Deputy Chairman of UBS Investment Bank who once headed a $3 billion dollar investment fund while he lived in Moscow and hobnobbed with Putin. Foresmen reportedly reached out to "Apprentice" producer Mark Burnett, who in turn approached aides of Trump to see if the president would meet with the banker after the election.
According to ABC: "What is known about Foresman’s efforts to meet with Trump’s team during the post-election period in late 2016 stems from internal presidential inaugural committee emails reviewed by ABC News, testimony and court filings in an unrelated legal matter."
The report adds that Foresman was supposed to meet with Tom Barrack, who oversaw Trump’s Presidential Inaugural Committee, and that he also reached out to Trump's disgraced former national security adviser Michael Flynn.
According to ABC, Foresman and his attorneys' declined to comment on the report of an investigation.
