Trump's campaign paid over $175K to his companies in the last three months of 2018 alone

Donald Trump's reelection campaign spent over $175,000 at Trump companies — in just the last three months of 2018.

The New York Times' Ken Vogel reported on Twitter that the campaign spent roughly $179,000 at various Trump companies in the last quarter of 2018.

A breakdown of the filing Vogel posted shows that the majority of the payments from the Trump campaign to Trump companies came in the form of rent.

Three rent payments of $3,850 were made to Trump Plaza LLC, the company associated with Trump's Plaza Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Four rent payments of $3,000 were made to Trump Restaurants LLC, the company in charge of the restaurants at Trump properties.

Three larger rent payments — one of just over $75,000 and another two just shy of $38,000 — were paid out to Trump Tower Commercial LLC, the company that oversees rentals at Trump Tower in Manhattan's Midtown neighborhood.

Last March, a Republican consultant who spoke to HuffPost on condition of anonymity revealed that the space the Trump campaign is paying for in Trump Tower is virtually empty.

“There’s nobody there," the GOP consultant said. "It’s like two guys. There is no campaign. There is no operation. It’s just a joke.”

In his analysis of the latest FEC filings for the Trump campaign, Vogel also pointed out that the campaign spent $251,000 on Make America Great Again hats and owes the Treasury Department over $1 million in travel expenses.
