Trump's efforts to stall sentencing in hush money case fail: 'We will proceed'

Judge Juan Merchan released a letter Tuesday telling Donald Trump that the Sept. 18 sentencing date in his hush money conviction will not be changed.

Over the past few weeks, the judge has received a smattering of filings from Trump and his lawyers seeking to push back the hearing, but it has been to no avail, reported MSNBC's Adam Klasfeld.

"Please note, the court appearance scheduled for September 18, 2024, at 10 A.M. remains unchanged," Merchan emphasized.

"We will proceed on that date and time to the imposition of sentence or other proceedings as appropriate. Please keep these dates in mind if you still wish to file a pre-sentence recommendation," he continued.
