President-elect Donald Trump said he would nominate former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (R-HI) to serve as the Director of National Intelligence, but critics and analysts aren't certain that will actually happen.
"This will be the most difficult nomination to get through the United States Congress, period, hard stop," said Punchbowl News reporter Jake Sherman. She and "Pete Hegseth, right? I don't know that Tulsi Gabbard gets confirmed by the Senate. I'll put it that way. Again, he has chosen a lot of people with easy paths to confirmation."
"John Ratcliffe at the CIA, Marco Rubio, Kristi Noem, all of those folks will get confirmed," he continued. "Tulsi Gabbard is going to be extraordinarily difficult."

He called it a "tough pill to swallow" after watching MAGA world go crazy over Sen. John Thune (R-SD) taking over the conference in the Senate. The right wanted Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL), who is seen as much more of a Trump loyalist.
Given Sen. Mitch McConnell's (R-KY) recently published autobiography, Sherman said it's clear he sees Trump as unserious.
"And I think he will share the opinion that some of these nominees are not serious people," closed Sherman. "So, Tulsi Gabbard, Pete Hegseth are going to be two incredibly difficult nomination processes."
"Call me crazy, but I don’t think Russia’s favorite Tulsi Gabbard should oversee our National Intelligence Program," complained Christian conservative Heath Mayo, who founded Principles First.
"This is a disaster for US security & alliances. Of all Trump's decisions so far, might be the worst. Tulsi Gabbard has consistently parroted pro-Putin propaganda. Director of National Intelligence is a critical position for which she has absolutely no experience and skill," said Thomas Juneau, professor at the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs at the University of Ottawa.
Less than an hour later, Trump announced he was nominating Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) to lead the Justice Department.
