A former Donald Trump White House lawyer on Sunday raised a red flag about "one of the greatest threats" that the "evil" president poses to democracy itself.
Ex-Trump lawyer Ty Cobb appeared on MS NOW over the weekend, where he was asked about what some have called Trump's war on the judicial branch. The host asked, "What does this mean forthe judiciary moving forward, that the Justice Department istaking this hostile action and rhetoric?"
Cobb replied, "I think that's oneof the greatest threats to ourdemocracy at this stage of thegame."
"Keep in mind that Trumphas neutered congress. Actually, they've probably neuteredthemselves through theircowardice and greed, but theyhave, you know, ceded basically all control tothe president. And he dictateseverything Mike Johnson does," he added. "So I think that'stragic because the way theconstitution is designed, congress not the courts, weredeemed to be the, you know, thefirst wave of of resistance toan evil president. You know, congress has greater powersthan the president does underarticle one. The president'sarticle two powers are enormous. But the article one powersinclude impeachment, spending, war, power, all those things.Basically, they have, you know, handed it to Trump in a basket with a bow on it,which is, which is dangerous."
