A mugshot has been released for the suspected gunman in conservative activist Charlie Kirk's assassination.
Authorities announced the arrest Friday of 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, who is accused of fatally shooting the right-wing influencer two days earlier during an event at Utah Valley University.
Robinson had indicated to a family friend that he was responsible for Kirk's killing, according to Utah Gov. Spencer Cox, who also said that a roommate showed investigators some chat app messages from him that indicated his role in the shooting.
A family member told a friend that Robinson had confessed to the shooting or implied he had committed the act, Cox said, and that individual contacted the Washington County Sheriff's Office.
"Investigators interviewed a family member of Robinson who stated that Robinson had become more political in recent years," Cox said. "The family member referenced a recent incident in which Robinson came to dinner prior to September 10. And in the conversation with another family member, Robinson mentioned Charlie Kirk was coming to UVU."Leave a Comment
