When a teenage suspect allegedly fired a shot into the ceiling of his classroom, the boy's parents helped disarm him and police took him into custody.
The Bountiful police department has now released the body camera video footage of the arrest. It begins showing the officer running into the school, announcing himself, finding no one at the front desk of the school and then ultimately finding the boy handing the gun over to his parents.
The officer is seen running down the hall and once he reaches the boy, viewers can see that he's standing facing the wall with his hands being held behind his back. Two firearms are visible on the floor, a shotgun and a handgun. The officer pats down the student and asks "is it just you?" His response is redacted but the officer later is overheard saying "just one, just one" and tells the radio there is a "single 1082."
A hearing for the teen is scheduled this week and the prosecutors are attempting to have the boy tried as an adult. The defense has sought to have the boy undergo a psychiatric evaluation.
