'What's wrong with these people?' Vance leveled on MSNBC for 'grossly irresponsible' rant
Inflammatory comments Vice President J.D. Vance made within hours after a shooting at a Dallas ICE facility were raked over the coals by an MSNBC panel Thursday.
Adding on to a post on X where Vance started pointing fingers almost immediately after the shooting — as investigators had just begun their work — the vice president made an appearance in Charlotte, North Carolina where he accused Democrats of inciting the incident that left one detainee dead and several more injured.
According to Vance, “But if you look at the political violence in our country over the last couple of months, the last couple of years, it is not a both sides problem. It is primarily on one side of the political aisle. So if we are going to truly go after the political violence in this country, we need the Democratic leadership in Washington, D.C. to look in the mirror.”
That led a fuming MSNBC host Joe Scarborough to fire back, “Yeah, another lie. I really don't understand why, at times like these, the vice president feels like he needs to go out and lie about things that are obviously false. I always talk about the need to support law enforcement. We talked yesterday about the attacks against ICE in July, two times in July of this year, talked about how heinous the shooting was yesterday, three migrants that were shot, by the way.
"I mean, while people were still bleeding you have JD Vance saying something again that he clearly knows is false,” he added before sharing statistics from the conservative Cato Institute that showed the overwhelming number of domestic terror attacks come from the far-right.
“Now, listen, if there was a Democrat that was blaming the Republican Party for these killings, we would be very critical of them,” he added. “But what is wrong with these people that they go out and they immediately start pointing at Democrats saying, ‘Oh, this is where all the violence is coming from,’ when they know it's not true?”
Pointing to silence from Republicans when Minnesota House of Representatives Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark and their dog were killed in their home by a Donald Trump supporter, Scarborough added, “The question is this: where was JD Vance after that happened? Did he go around making speeches nonstop? Where were right-wing media outlets when all of these things happen?”
Co-host Willie Geist chimed in and called Vance’s actions “Grossly irresponsible.”
