Republican vice presidential candidate J.D. Vance defended Donald Trump's threat to use the U.S. military against the "enemy from within," saying the former president "speaks from the heart."
During a Monday interview on Fox News, host Bill Hemmer asked Vance why Trump kept talking about his threat to use the military in U.S. elections to fight "radical left lunatics" and the "enemy from within."
"My question is, why is it necessary?" Hemmer wondered.
"Well, Bill, first of all, Donald Trump is unfiltered," Vance replied. "I think this is one of the reasons why the campaign has gone well is because he's not doing a basement campaign strategy."
"He's not just running on slogans," he continued. "When people ask him questions, he speaks from the heart."

"And sometimes that means he's going to talk about issues that the mainstream media isn't focused on."
Vance has previously said that Trump's remarks were taken "out of context."
