The View gangs up with Alyssa Milano to ridicule racist NYC lawyer: 'What an idiot'

The hosts of "The View" mocked a racist New York City lawyer whose viral rant against Spanish-speaking restaurant workers could end his career.

Attorney Aaron Schlossberg could lose his law license after threatening to call ICE on employees of the coffee shop next door to his office, and former prosecutor Sunny Hostin said she's glad.

"I think for all the evils of social media, this is when it works, right?" Hostin said. "Because they called out this behavior, and I think he should be punished. I think there should be consequences for that."

Schlossberg claimed his taxes were paying for welfare assistance for immigrants during his tirade, and other customers laughed him out of the coffee shop.

"What an idiot," said co-host Joy Behar.

Co-host Meghan McCain said the incident was especially shocking because Schlossberg didn't fit her stereotyped idea of what a racist looks like.

"This happened in midtown Manhattan, that's very close to here," McCain said. "I think sometimes when we think of, like, outward racism you think of a certain type of person in the deep south, this is happening in midtown with a lawyer who lives here."

Behar pointed out that Schlossberg was a Trump voter, and Hostin agreed that the attorney's background and education showed that racism wasn't a geographic phenomenon.

"The White House sets the tone against immigrants, and so people feel like it's a free day to go after immigrants," Behar said.

Actress Alyssa Milano agreed, saying that President Donald Trump had emboldened bigots like Schlossberg.

"The thing that upsets me the most is that people seem to be wearing their racism on their sleeve nowadays," Milano said. "They are proud of it now, it's okay to be proud to be a racist now. It's awful."
