Watch: Anti-Kavanaugh protestors storm the stairs of the Supreme Court and slam the doors during swearing-in

As accused rapist Brett Kavanaugh arrives at the Supreme Court to be sworn in as a justice, the protesters outside the building where he will be sworn in have intensified.

The general public is generally not allowed on the front stairs of the court, but around 5:30 pm eastern the protests on the streets moved up the stairs of the building and began banging on the front doors as Kavanaugh prepares to be sworn in.

"You're usually not allowed on those stairs," said CNN reporter Ariane de Vogue. "This is very unusual, you don't see this kind of protest at the high court."

The public was kept off the stairs even during emotional moments like the ruling on gay marriage, de Vogue said.

One woman had climbed the statue of Lady Justice and was sitting on her lap leading a chant of "Whose courts? Our Courts!"

Justices are likely shuddering, de Vogue said, as they are not used to seeing this type of protest and do not like to be seen as part of partisan politics.
