Watch CNN's Richard Quest mansplain 'sexist air-conditioning' by blaming anchor's 'skimpy' wardrobe

A group of scientists have determined that decades-old workplace standards are to blame for women often being cold at the office, but CNN's Richard Quest told anchor Brooke Baldwin on Tuesday that the problem was her "skimpy" wardrobe.

The New York Timesreported on Monday that a recently-published study in the journal Nature Climate Change found that most office buildings still set their thermostats based on a formula devised in the 1960s to suit the metabolic rates of men. The scientists recommended that buildings could help combat global warming and “reduce gender-discriminating bias in thermal comfort” by updating their standards.

Quest, who showed up to the CNN set with a blanket for Baldwin, argued that women were "ignoring the point."

"Look at what you're wearing as opposed to sensible clothes," he said, pointing to his own suit and tie. "A proper shirt and a vest and a jacket."

"So I should be here in the middle of summer in New York in a polo neck and closed shoes and maybe a nice pair of jeans?" CNN social news director Samantha Barry asked.

"You don't necessarily have to go that far," Quest replied. "But certainly nothing too skimpy."

"No one is skimpy around here," Baldwin insisted. "We are comfortable. It is summer. We like to rock it with our fashion."

"It's time for men to say there's nothing wrong with the air conditioning!" Quest exclaimed. "Put a sweater on! Dress warmly!"
