WATCH: Conservative gets shut down after trying to claim 'some of these kids' could be MS-13 gang members

On Monday's episode of CNN's "The Lead" with Jack Tapper, Alfonso Aguilar—head of the Latino Partnership for Conservative Principles—criticized the administration's handling of the crisis at the border, where thousands of children have been separated from their parents.

Aguilar slammed the administration for blaming Democrats for a policy Donald Trump could unilaterally end today.

"Immigration law does not require families to be separated," he said.

Unfortunately, Aguilar followed up with one of President Donald Trump's talking points: the idea that members of the violent drug gang MS-13 are flooding through the border.

"Some of these kids, maybe 12, 13, 14 but may have ties with MS-13, that is a reality," Aguilar said.

"That's not what we're talking about," Tapper interjected.

Critics have pointed out that most migrants are fleeing the violence perpetrated by drug smuggling gangs like MS-13, which the administration has named "enemy number one."

"The majority are good people, they're coming with their parents. But we do have minors with criminal records and we have to sort them out," Aguilar insisted.

"But not in the way they're doing it," another panelist interjected.
