Watch: Cornel West arrested with 'Occupy D.C.' in front of Supreme Court

Dr. Cornel West was one of 18 people with "Occupy D.C." who were arrested on the steps of the Supreme Court last weekend, in solidarity with "Occupy Wall Street" and to mark the date during the dedication of the Martin Luther King, Jr. memorial.

As protesters were peacefully demonstrating, West spoke through a megaphone, telling the gathered crowd and the arresting officers that they were standing up for working people at the Supreme Court because they know the relationship between greed and the nation's highest legal authority.

All the while, protesters chanted: "Corporations are not people."

"Out of deep love for working and poor people, we are willing to put whatever it takes -- even if we get arrested today -- and say we will not allow this day of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s memorial to go without somebody going to jail, because Martin King would be here right with us."

The charges against West have since been dropped.
