WATCH: Don Lemon explains how Trump and Tucker Carlson will use Jussie Smollett's story to attack the press

On Wednesday, CNN host Don Lemon addressed the ongoing controversy surrounding "Empire" actor Jussie Smollett.

Smollett was indicted by the Chicago Police Department for filing a false police report. Smollett said that he was the victim of a vicious hate crime.

After the alleged attack, Smollett interviewed on Good Morning America to share his side of the story. Lemon said that it was a damaging move, and not helpful to Smollett's case.

Lemon explained that Smollett 's story has turned political and that cable-news outlets will use it to fuel their agenda.

"Sean Hannity is going to eat Jussie Smollett's lunch every single second. Tucker Carlson is going to eat Smollett's lunch every single second. The president of the United States is going to eat his lunch," Lemon said.

"Well, the pushback on this needs to be that the framing cannot be that simply because of this one case, that all the other victims that come forward are somehow no longer believed. That's really important," legal analyst Midwin Charles said.
