Watch: Fox News already prepping to spin the defeat of 'Original Trump' Saccone in Pennsylvania

Conservatives are prepping to spin a possible Republican loss in a district President Trump won by 20 points in 2016.

Centrist Democrat Conor Lamb is facing ultra-conservative Rick Saccone in a special election for Pennsylvania's 18th district, which has been reliably red for 15 years. Polling shows Lamb has an advantage, even after Trump flew in for a Saturday night rally and dispatched his son to campaign hard for Saccone, who aligns himself closely with Trump and who has called himself "the original Trump."

On Outnumbered, panelists debated what Saccone's possible loss means. David Avella, a GOP strategist, said that this election has nothing to do with Trump—but that Trump should take credit if Saccone pulls it out.

"What does the outcome of this election say about the president?" Avella was asked.

"It says people in PA-18 people are going to choose between Rick Saccone and Conor Lamb, and we shouldn't look way much to into this," he said. "Everybody wants to say this election is about President Trump but you just herd Conor Lamb say it's not about Trump."

Avella was then asked what happens if Saccone wins—should Trump take a victory lap?

"He absolutely should take a victory lap!" Avella said.

Avella has help spinning from fellow-panelist Lisa Boothe.

"Look, there are more registered Democrats in the district than Republicans," she said. "Conor Lamb is a strong candidate, Rick Saccone isn't. Look at some of the debates. He's had some messy moments."
