Watch: Fox News host Tucker Carlson gets confused about gas prices -- and guest humiliates him with simple explanation

Fox News host Tucker Carlson apparently became confused about commodity prices and taxes on his Friday night show, humiliating himself as he attempted to paint Democrats as "hypocrites" for favoring a light tax on oil when it was at low rates during the Obama administration while criticizing President Trump for the soaring gas prices that followed his decision to pull out of the Iran nuclear deal.

Carlson opened by conceding that "there are probably things that you could say about President Trump's performance that are negative" but said that gas prices are not one of them because Democrats had favored a small tax on the commodity.

His guest, Chris Hahn, immediately pointed out that Trump himself had criticized President Obama for high gas prices. "Gas prices are at crazy levels--fire Obama!" Trump tweeted in 2012.

"What kind of sick person do you have to be to attack someone for doing what you're calling for us to do?" Carlson asked. "It's in the Democratic platform!"

Hahn blinked before attempting to explain the difference between taxes and commodity prices to the confused host.

"They're calling for a useful tax to help go to other projects, while right now we're just throwing out money away to the Middle East and other places," Hahn explained.

Carlson then became confused about Obama's Iran deal, which is what caused gas prices to rise, which Carlson falsely said that Democrats opposed. Democrats, in fact, blocked a Republican effort to undermine the deal at the time.

"It's having an effect that they agree with—it's all so dishonest it's mind-boggling" Carlson claimed.

"They have not called for higher commodity prices," Hahn said, almost in disbelief. "That's just not the case."

"You guys have a lot of hutzpah, I'll give you that," Carlson said.
