WATCH: Lindsey Graham denies being gay after Chelsea Handler mocks him on National Coming Out Day

On Thursday, comedian Chelsea Handler posted a tweet playing off of longstanding rumors that Sen. Lindsey Graham is gay.

Handler caught some flak for "outing" Graham. But when TMZ caught up with the senator at the Ronald Reagan airport in Washington, D.C., Graham dismissed the tweet.

"It's a free country, she can say whatever she wants to say, I don't care," Graham said.

"She knows zero about me," Graham continued. "To the extent that it matters, I'm not gay."

"These comments ... I don't know how this makes us a better country."
