President Donald Trump spent Wednesday flying to Erie, Pennsylvania for a campaign rally as Hurricane Michael struck the Gulf Coast as a Category 4 storm.
"Departing the @WhiteHouse for Erie, Pennsylvania," Trump tweeted. "I cannot disappoint the thousands of people that are there - and the thousands that are going. I look forward to seeing everyone this evening.
In 2012, Trump lashed out at President Barack Obama for campaigning seven days after Hurricane Sandy made landfall.
"Yesterday Obama campaigned with JayZ & Springsteen while Hurricane Sandy victims across NY & NJ are still decimated by Sandy," Trump tweeted.
"Wrong!" he added.
Tonight's campaign rally is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Eastern.
