WATCH: Neighbor reports black Minnesota boy's hot dog stand -- and the cops took the kid's side

A 13-year-old Minnesota boy feared he might have to close down his hot dog stand after a neighbor reported it. Instead, he's getting a lesson in business development from the city, KHOU 11 reports.

Jaequan Faulkner started a food stand in his Minneapolis neighborhood in 2016 with the help of his uncle. This year, he decided to re-open Mr. Faulkner's Old Fashioned Hot Dogs.

Which is when someone reported him.

But instead of shuttering the business, the authorities set about helping him become a fully legal food stand. He now has a business license and has been inspected by the health department. Staffers at the Health Department chipped in to buy the $87 permit.

"I pay me and my uncle and my cousin," Faulkner said. "But before I do any of that I pay tax."

Faulker is aware that many other kids around the country .

"Surprisingly, I'm like, dang the city's not the bad guys in this situation. They're actually the ones who are helping me," Faulkner said. "It makes me feel kind of—not kind of—really proud that people know what I'm doing."
