WATCH: NRA TV host blames Obama for setting 'race relations back 100 years'

100 years ago, state-sanctioned segregation was the norm throughout much of the United States.

Even though Jim Crow laws haven't returned to the South, NRA TV host Bill Whittle nonetheless thinks that former President Barack Obama has set race relations all the way back to the times when black people were barred from using the same water fountains as white people.

As Media Matters reports, Whittle this week went on a tirade about the state of race relations in America, and he singled out America's first black president for being the primary culprit for increased racial tensions.

"It's pretty clear to me that the entire job of the left over the last 20 years has been to take America, which is essentially unbeatable if it’s one country, divide it up into little tribes, and set the tribes at war against each other," Whittle said. "And it seems to me that Barack Obama’s presidency set race relations back 100 years in this country."

Whittle also noted earlier in his rant that the 1970s sitcom All in the Family couldn't possibly air on network television in 2017 because "it was so open, it was so honest about the discussion of these things."

All in the Family starred Carroll O'Connor as a racist blue-collar New Yorker who regularly showed open prejudice toward African Americans, Jews, Catholics and homosexuals.
