WATCH: Republican CNN anchor S.E. Cupp adds up all the ‘costs’ of Trump’s divisive campaign rhetoric

The host of "S.E. Cupp Unfiltered" on CNN explained on Saturday why she believes President Donald Trump's divisive campaign rhetoric in the midterm elections.

Cupp, who repeatedly referred to herself as a Republican, worried about damage to the country.

"Here's the deal, Trump is trying out a new line that these midterms are going to be about Kavanaugh and the caravan," Cupp noted. "He's likely not wrong. It's no secret the Republican base is motivated by illegal immigration and I've been saying for weeks now that the Kavanaugh confirmation hearing awakened an angry silent majority that the left is not anticipating."

"He's not wrong, but at what cost?" she asked.

"The President of the United States has chosen to believe a bogus Saudi explanation for the brutal murder of a Washington Post journalist," she noted. "A what cost to democracy?"

"The president is using immigrant families fleeing violence and pain to gin up fear amongst his base," she continued. "At what cost to human decency?"

"Republicans may do very well in November, I think better than most are expecting, but at what cost?" Cupp wondered.
