On Saturday evening, members of the Secret Service detail protecting Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump hustled the former reality TV star off the stage at a rally in Reno, Nevada.
There is no reliable information currently available about what security threat may have been responsible for the disturbance. Raw Story will update this story as information becomes available.
UPDATE (9:27 p.m. Eastern):The Guardian reported that Trump returned to the stage moments later and thanked the Secret Service.
Eventually, Trump returned to the stage and said: “Nobody said it was going to be easy but we will never be stopped. We will never be stopped.”
He added “I want to thank the Secret Service, those guys are fantastic.”
UPDATE (9:40 p.m.): Armed police are holding the suspect in a bathroom at the rear of the rally venue.
UPDATE (10:20 p.m.): The man seized by police was unarmed and posed no threat to the candidate. The Department of Homeland Security said that the man was a protester who was attempting to unfurl a sign. The crowd thought they saw a gun and overreacted.
UPDATE (10:55 p.m.): The man who was tackled and ejected from the rally is reportedly a Republican who does not support Donald Trump.
