Watch: Senate candidate Sharron Angle's new ad stars menacing Latinos

Sharron Angle, Nevada's Tea Party-backed Republican candidate for US Senate, is attacking Latinos again in a new ad that depicts images of Hispanic men with menacing looks next to depictions of white students and college graduates.

"Waves of illegal aliens streaming across our border, joining violent gangs, forcing families to live in fear," the announcer intones.

Angle’s "ad is especially surprising considering the fact that many outlets are reporting that Latinos may decide the tight Nevada senatorial race," Think Progress, the liberal blog which highlighted the ad, noted.

Angle is running against Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) and is neck-and-neck with Reid in the polls.

“Angle has made few friends among Latinos after she supported neighboring Arizona’s controversial SB 1070 law, the strictest in the nation to curb illegal immigrants. And as polling day gets closer, her gaffes and missteps are helping to bring the Latino vote out for Reid,” Reuters noted last week.

"Hispanic voters continue to support Democrats by a nearly two-to-one margin nationwide, according to a Pew Hispanic Center poll earlier this month," the wire service added. "But just 51 percent are certain they will actually vote next month -- an enthusiasm gap that worries Reid's campaign in Nevada, where Hispanics account for 14 percent of the electorate."

The ad:

Last month, Angle was forced to pull an ad featuring supposed illegal immigrants after it came out that the so called immigrants were actually Mexican men -- in Mexico.

Earlier this month, Angle defended the ad by saying the men in the ads were not necessarily Hispanic.

Angle told Hispanic schoolchildren that Mexican men in her ad may not actually be Latinos, and implied "terrorists" are coming to the US illegally from Canada.

The spot, called "Thanks Pal," attacks her opponent, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), for allegedly helping undocumented immigrants come to the United States and failing to enforce the border. An image of three dark-skinned men with menacing looks appears alongside the caption "Illegal Aliens."

"I'm not sure that those are Latinos in that commercial," Angle later told the students in a private speech, video footage of which was obtained by The Associated Press. "What it is, is a fence and there are people coming across that fence."

She later told some of the students, "'Some of you look a little more Asian to me."
