WATCH: SNL brutally mocks out-of-touch Trump official Wilbur Ross in opener

Saturday Night Live opened its January 26, 2019 show with a segment brutally mocking Trump administration officials for making tone-deaf appearances on Fox News.

Tucker Carlson and Judge Jeanine Pirro opened the segment, setting up interviews with Trump's longtime political adviser Roger Stone and Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross.

"Democrats are using the shutdown to portray the Trump administration as out-of-touch with ordinary Americans," the Carlson character said. "That is ridiculous. Here to comment is Secretary of Commerce and man of the people, Wilbur Ross."

Ross, who was played by the versatile and talented Kate McKinnon, suggested that unpaid federal workers could "liquidate some of their stocks or sell some of their paintings" to make ends meet.

"Even if they sold a lesser Picasso that's still going to get you through a week or two of yacht maintenance," the Ross Character said. "We all have to make sacrifices in times of hardship. For example, instead of going out to dinner you could open a restaurant in your house, or, for a period of time, you could have your horses attend public school."

Roger Stone then made an appearance, making a plea for sympathy.
