A contrarian filmmaker complained he was the victim of leftist violence Saturday afternoon when he was bopped on the head by a beach ball at an anti-racism demonstration in Vancouver.
Dan Dicks, of the Press for Truth website, waded into the crowd verbally sparred with demonstrators -- who protesting a planned anti-Islam rally -- as an inflatable ball drifts across the tops of their heads before apparently hitting him.
"Yeah, they're throwing stuff at us now, guys," Dicks says. "See this is what happens, people, when they can't handle an actual intellectual debate, they resort to violence and start -- somebody just threw a ball at me."
One of the protesters called Dicks a liar and said there'd been no violence, and he accused the filmmakers of attempting to disrupt the demonstration and misrepresent what was happening.
Dicks, who doesn't show any signs of injury, continues attempting to engage protesters in arguments before launching into another complaint about the beach ball.
"I got smoked in the face -- popped my glasses right off, and so did my buddy Jamie there," Dicks says. "So we're going to continue documenting this because now the original protesters are not showing up.
Dicks, who frequently discusses conspiracy theories and has hosted white supremacists on his video program, then urges viewers to share a link to his YouTube channel on their social media pages.
