Watch: Trump says the FBI is 'doing a really great job' doing 'whatever it is they do' on Brett Kavanaugh

President Donald Trump is en route to West Virginia, and before departing from the White House he answered questions about Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh from the White House lawn.

Trump said he was looking forward to the rally where "we're going to have a lot of fun," but most of the questions asked of him were about Kavanaugh, who will now be investigated by the FBI.

"Hopefully at the conclusion everything will be fine," Trump said.

Trump praised the FBI, an agency he has sparred with on numerous occasions.

"The FBI, I believe, is doing a really great job," he said. "They have been all over already. They have free reign. Whatever it is they do, they will be doing things we haven't even thought of."

Trump said he thought the investigation will clear Kavanaugh, who has been under fire by friends who say he was lying about his youthful binge drinking during testimony.

"Actually I think this could be a blessing in disguise," Trump said. "Having them do a thorough investigation, I think, will be a blessing in disguise. This is a good thing."

Trump said he has no other nominee is Kavanaugh is released to be a rapist and/or liar.

"I don't have a backup plan," he said. "I think he's going to be fine."
