Watch: Wisconsin conservatives sing 'God bless our governor'

Conservatives in Wisconsin showed support for Republican Governor Scott Walker by singing a revised version of Irving Berlin's "God bless America" in the Capitol.

The Jefferson County Republican Women gathered on the first floor of the Capitol Rotunda on Thursday to sing "God bless our governor" and other patriotic tunes. The small pro-Walker rally was intended to counter the daily progressive "Solidarity Sing Along" demonstrations that have occurred since the Wisconsin budget battle of 2011.

"I feel sorry for the people who have to come here to work," Organizer Deb Stein told 27 News. "They feel threatened, they don't feel comfortable. It's not a nice situation. I wouldn't want to have to work in that. So we're here to try to make it a little friendlier."

The Solidarity Sing Along participants have refuse to obtain permits. When another group reserves the Rotunda for an event, the group performs their demonstration outside the Capitol.

Conservatives have suggested obtaining as many permits as possible to kick the progressive protesters out of the Capitol. The Jefferson County Republican Women have obtained permits to rally in the Rotunda on Tuesday, September 10, Thursday, September 19 and Wednesday, September 25, 2013.
