'We feel misled': Hispanic Trump supporters somehow shocked by batsh*t immigration speech

Just how bad was Donald Trump's big immigration speech on Wednesday night?

So bad that even some of his Hispanic surrogates are jumping ship.

Politico reports that several of Trump's Hispanic surrogates have either withdrawn support or are considering withdrawing support from the candidate.

"It’s so disappointing because we feel we took a chance, a very risky chance," said Alfonso Aguilar, the president of the Latino Partnership for Conservative Principles of his organization's support for Trump. "We decided to make a big U-turn to see if we could make him change. We thought we were moving in the right direction … we’re disappointed. We feel misled."

Aguilar said at this point that he's "inclined" to withdraw his support from Trump.

Jacob Monty, a member of Trump’s National Hispanic Advisory Council, went ahead and resigned from his position after Trump's immigration speech.

"I was a strong supporter of Donald Trump when I believed he was going to address the immigration problem realistically and compassionately," he told Politico. "What I heard today was not realistic and not compassionate."

Why these men thought Trump would ever meaningfully "pivot" on immigration when he made bashing immigrants the centerpiece of his campaign is anyone's guess, but it's still interesting to see that they do have limits on what they'll tolerate.
