A "debate" hosted by CNN's Don Lemon about President Obama's executive action on gun legislation got wound up fast.
ThinkProgress writer Igor Volsky went ballistic on conservative CNN contributor and radio talk show host Ben Ferguson, barely letting Ferguson get a word in. Lemon did his best to moderate but Volsky was unrelenting.
Volsky started off talking about the National Rifle Association and how the group's campaign contributions to lawmakers influence gun legislation. Things spun out of control when Lemon asked Ferguson to respond.
"They're a lobbyist group and they lobby for the Second Amendment," Ferguson began, "the same way that Planned Parenthood lobbies Congress, the same way that green energy comes in and spends billions of dollars over President Obama's time in office."
Ferguson then started talking about Solyndra, a failed solar panel start-up that became a conservative talking point against Obama's green energy efforts.
"Hey Ben, what does Solyndra have to do with this? What are you talking about," Volsky said. "Solyndra? What is this?"
Ferguson then said he was the victim of a "gun crime" in which a convicted felon shot at him. He said Obama's action wouldn't have stopped that from happening because the shooter got the gun on the black market.
The three then ended up talking about elderly people who are unable to drive due to dementia and whether they should be able to own guns.
