A Secret Service vehicle reportedly caught fire just outside the White House Monday ahead of President Donald Trump’s visit with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, according to a report from Just the News.
The outlet reported that Amanda Head, White House correspondent for Just the News, personally witnessed the vehicle aflame. According to Head, the Secret Service vehicle was an SUV parked on the corner of 18th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, and that the flame originated from the vehicle’s back seat.
Trump is poised to meet with Netanyahu at an undisclosed time in the Oval Office Monday to continue talks about ending Israel’s military siege on Gaza. Trump has spoken optimistically about the prospects of ending Israel’s siege, though White House officials, anonymously, fear that the meeting could “go off the rails.”
The cause for the fire is unknown.
Netanyahu has grown increasingly isolated from the world stage over Israel’s conduct in its assault on Gaza, which includes an ongoing aid blockade among famine. Netanyahu has been indicted for war crimes by the International Criminal Court, with his role in Israel’s siege and aid blockade on Gaza being a key component of the criminal charges against him.
