'This is a whopper': CNN's Camerota breaks down the many levels of insanity in Trump's new conspiracy tweet

President Donald Trump's latest unhinged tweet about special counsel Robert Mueller allegedly "meddling" in the 2018 midterm elections caught the eyes of CNN host Alisyn Camerota, who said that it was the latest example of the president throwing out baseless conspiracies to defend himself.

"We had [New York Times reporter] Maggie Haberman on earlier, who has an article about this, about the president peddling conspiracy theories," she said. "And this morning we have Exhibit A, and this one is a whopper."

Camerota went on to explain that Trump is now so obviously trying to discredit the Mueller probe in the public's eyes that he's now peddling theories about conspiracies that may or may not happen in the distant future.

"He's predicting a conspiracy theory will happen in the future and that Mueller's team will meddle in the upcoming election," she said. "The president knows that 'election meddling' is one of those catch phrases, much like 'Spygate,' much like -- I don't know, there's others recently -- that get peoples' attention."

Panelist A.B. Stoddard said that Trump's willingness to openly peddle baseless conspiracies to benefit himself politically is without precedent in the American presidency.

"He is without limits in terms of his willingness to launch conspiracy theories that are not based in truth and really triple down on them," she said. "Remember, the election hadn't happened in 2016 before he told us it was going to be rigged."
