'How will this defeat ISIS?': Internet explodes in outrage after Trump announces 'unlawful' military strikes in Syria

Moments after President Donald Trump announced to the nation that he intends to issue military strikes on Syria in retaliation for chemical attacks allegedly taken by their President Bashar al-Assad, Twitter exploded in outrage as bombs began to fall in Damascus at the decision to instill more violence in the war-torn region.

"It’s unbelievable this man is ordering air strikes yet I have zero doubt that he could not place Syria on a map," The Intercept's Charlotte Greensit tweeted.

"Yesterday I reminded [Defense Secretary Jim] Mattis that, in Iraq, he gave us a clear mission and told us what we needed to accomplish to go home," Rep. Seth Moulton (D-MA) tweeted. "Then I asked about Syria, and he said the troops can go home when they defeat ISIS. So what part of that strategy is this?"

Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY), meanwhile, noted that in 2013, he remarked to President Barack Obama that the constitution "requires congressional authorization for use of military forces in Syria."

Trump's "actions tonight appear to be unlawful if not unconstitutional," the congressman said.
