A man was arrested for bringing a gun illegally into the Wisconsin Capitol and demanding to see Gov. Tony Evers – before returning hours later with an assault rifle.
The shirtless man approached the Democratic governor's office on the Capitol's first floor Wednesday around 2 p.m. with a holstered handgun. He was told Evers was not there and was taken into custody for openly carrying a firearm inside the building, reported the Associated Press.
He was booked into the Dane County Jail but later posted bond, and he returned just before 9 p.m. with an assault-style rifle, said a spokesman for the state.
