WWE founder who called Trump’s comments on women ‘deplorable’ has given $6 million towards his run

Despite finding his comments about women "deplorable," the co-founder of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) has supplied a PAC supporting GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump with $6 million, reports the Washington Post.

According to campaign contribution filings, Linda McMahon -- wife of WWE figurehead Vince McMahon -- has given the Rebuilding America super PAC nearly one third of the money it has collectedto support the GOP nominee.

McMahon -- who left her position at the WWE in 2009 for an unsuccessful bid for the Senate seat in Connecticut - had previously criticized Trump during the primaries, citing his rhetoric and comments directed at women.

In an interview with Katie Couric, McMahon was once of the first to use "deplorable" when it comes to Trump's then-surging campaign.

“He’s not helping, certainly, to put women in the best light,” McMahon remarked. "Maybe he regrets them, maybe he doesn’t. I realize he punches hard when he punches back, but that’s just over the top.”

While admitting Trump is not her first choice, she has since come around, saying the blustery candidate is a "vessel that has housed this anger and this dissatisfaction that exists throughout the country. Once you're his friend, he is loyal to the end."

McMahon's contributions to Trump -- spread out over August and September -- came before the release of the Access Hollywood video where Trump bragged about sexually assaulting women, only to be followed by a seemingly endless stream of women coming forward with their stories this past week.
