‘You don’t get to choose’: GOP strategist hammers Trump for trying to control what Mueller investigates

GOP strategist Susan Del Percio on Friday hit Donald Trump for once again insisting special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation has found “no collusion” between his campaign and the Russia government, explaining that the president doesn’t get a say in what happens with the probe.

Trump on Thursday told the New York Times the Russia investigation makes the United States “look very bad,” and that everybody knows there was “no collusion” on the part of his campaign.

“It would do the president well to remember that the investigation into President [Bill] Clinton was about a real estate deal and it ended up in a blue dress,” Del Perico said. “You don't get to choose where an investigation goes.”

“He may say there was no collusion and there may not be, but that doesn't mean there won't be other things come up,” she added. “We've already seen four indictments, two guilty pleas—so the president can talk about what he wants. He thinks if he keeps saying it over and over enough, it's going to be true, but that's not the case.”

“The White House team is very nervous," Del Perico noted. “The president gets very uncomfortable every time there’s a story about something Mueller’s looking at and they should proceed very cautiously.”
