Kristi Noem's DHS claims 'huge victory' after appeals court ruling on 'Alligator Alcatraz'

The Department of Homeland Security claimed a "huge victory" Thursday after an appeals court paused the shutdown of one of its most infamous detention centers.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit issued a temporary injunction against a lower court's ruling that required DHS to shut down "Alligator Alcatraz," a 5,000-bed detention facility in the Florida Everglades, within 60 days. The lower court ruled that the Trump administration had ignored environmental regulations, which allowed them to build the facility in eight days.

Trump Cabinet member just 'confessed' the president has been 'lying': journalist

President Donald Trump's administration is scrambling to get the Supreme Court to reverse the decisions of multiple lower courts that held his tariff scheme illegal and invalid — but in the rush to provide a defense, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent may have just blown a hole through one of Trump's biggest fabrications about his trade policy.

That's because, according to national security journalist Marcy "emptywheel" Wheeler, Bessent's statements to the court give a completely different number than Trump's repeated boasts that he's secured $15 trillion in foreign investment into the United States as part of his nebulous "trade deals" with other countries to reduce his tariffs.

MAGA world 'appalled' as RFK Jr. scorched at hearing: 'Purge the CDC of medical tyrants!'

Supporters of President Donald Trump and those who consider themselves part of the MAGA movement melted down Thursday after watching Health and Human Services Secretary Robert Kennedy Jr. be forced to answer tough questions about his leadership of the department in the few short months he's run it.

Kennedy, who had promised never to deny vaccines to anyone who wants them, removed the HHS recommendations for vaccines, making it difficult for anyone under 65 to access the COVID-19 booster without their doctor's intervention. Republicans hammered him on that fact as well as dramatic cuts from rural health care passed in the "big, beautiful bill," deep cuts to Medicaid, and the firings of the top official at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the entire vaccine advisory board.
