'Disastrous': Expert breaks bad news to MAGA fans loading up on Trump digital cards

In a column for MSNBC, an expert in sports memorabilia and trading cards and their long-term value explained that fans of Donald Trump who invested in his NFT cards earlier and those hoping to cash in on a new release of digital and physical cards are going to end up with pennies on the dollar at best.

According to ISA-accredited sports appraiser Michael Osacky, buying up the cards promoted by the former president is a "bad bet" whether he wins or loses in November.

As he points out, supply and demand play a strong part in the value of the cards that exists beyond the popularity of the former president and that existing cards are likely to plummet in value as the election nears.

Pointing out that the new NFT cards, "will feature 50 new portraits of the former president, according to a promotional video Trump shared on Truth Social showing images of the cards with him dancing, holding bitcoins, standing next to a buffalo or a lion, and striking various poses" he added. "For the purchase of a minimum of 15 digital cards (priced at $99 each), Trump promises that a physical trading card, which includes a swatch of the suit he wore during the presidential debate with President Joe Biden, will be mailed to the buyer. A limited 2,024 physical cards will be printed, and Trump will sign five of those 2,024 cards."

Noting that card collectors can be broken down into enthusiasts and investors, he pointed out that investors are snapping up the physical cards in hopes of making a "quick buck" and are already posting them for sale on eBay, which is a bad sign.

"Timing is important. Nobody is going to care or remember these cards come November. The time to sell is today. I would estimate the market value of each of the physical Trump trading cards to be $200 to $2,000. It’s therefore a losing proposition to buy these digital trading cards to obtain the one physical card to sell," he wrote after pointing out the expense of $1,485 to obtain one physical card as part of the digital card package.

Osacky added that physical card holders who wait until the November election to sell, based on a belief Trump will be returning to the Oval Office, will be in for a "disastrous" result.

He predicted, "If he loses, nobody will care or want the cards. If he wins, there simply will be more supply of Trump trading cards that will infiltrate the market, and more people willing to buy them. Trump may make money off the sales, but there's very little in it for any buyers wishing to do the same."

As for the digital cards, "those are worth pennies on the dollar."

'Dark shadow that hangs over everything': This SCOTUS ruling is Harris’ main obstacle

Since becoming the 2024 Democratic presidential nominee, Vice President Kamala Harris has faced pressure to unveil a comprehensive policy agenda. But one recent Supreme Court (SCOTUS) decision could complicate her efforts to implement any robust policies even if she becomes the 47th president of the United States.

According to the New Republic's Jason Linkins, there's "a dark shadow that hangs over everything" as Harris rolls out her policy proposals: The 2024 Loper Bright Enterprises v. Raimondo decision. In the landmark decision announced in late June toward the very end of SCOTUS' most recent term, the Court's six conservatives notably threw out 40 years of precedent known as the "Chevron deference."

CNN's Wallace baffled by conservative's boast J.D. Vance 'has not had one misstep'

On Saturday afternoon, CNN host Chris Wallace seemed alternately baffled and amused by a conservative guest who claimed that Republican J.D. Vance has been flawless in his role as Donald Trump running mate as the ex-president scrambles to return to the Oval Office.

In the closing segment of Wallace's show where panelists are asked to give their hottest takes," National Review editor-in-chief Rich Lowry attempted to make the case that Vance has been an enormous boost to the Trump campaign.

"Vance obviously did have a rocky introduction to national life," Lowry began before conceding, "The cat lady comments were an anchor around his neck and he's not necessarily the most warm and fuzzy campaigner, but he is proven tireless, fearless, really effective spokesman for this ticket."

He talks to and interacts with the press every single day, does hostile interviews, and, as far as I can tell, has not had one misstep," he continued.

"Wait a minute," the CNN host interjected. "How about Vance this week telling Kamala Harris to go to hell for criticism about Trump's visit to Arlington National Cemetery, which in fact, she never made?"

"Do you think the campaign didn't want him to do that or did want to do that?" Lowry smirked.

"I would hope they didn't want him to that," Wallace shot back.

'They probably wanted him to go out and be a forceful critic and an attack dog and he's doing a really good job," the conservative Lowry parried.

"And when he said about Trump's lewd comment, 'Ah, were just having fun?'" Wallace pressed.

"Well, he's on the ticket. what are they going to do?" Lowry offered before continuing, "But he was on Meet the Press last weekend and got about a dozen challenging questions, dealt with them all extremely, adeptly. And that is what he has been doing almost every single day."

"It's going to be a long two months," Wallace replied.

Trump rants about smelling 'marijuana everywhere we go' in rambling post about crime

Late Saturday morning, Donald Trump jumped on his Truth Social platform to proclaim himself the "most respected LAW & ORDER President in U.S. History," before going off in an odd direction and complaining about the smell of marijuana.

The former president, who is running for a second term under the cloud of a 34-count felony conviction, started by promoting his law and order qualifications before concentrating on a proposal to loosen Florida's weed laws.

On Truth Social he wrote, "As everyone knows, I was, and will be again, the most respected LAW & ORDER President in U.S. History. We will take our streets back by being tough & smart on violent, & all other types, of Crime. In Florida, like so many other States that have already given their approval, personal amounts of marijuana will be legalized for adults with Amendment 3. Whether people like it or not, this will happen through the approval of the Voters, so it should be done correctly."

With that, he took a jab at cities run by Democrats, a recurring theme in many of his posts, and continued," We need the State Legislature to responsibly create laws that prohibit the use of it in public spaces, so we do not smell marijuana everywhere we go, like we do in many of the Democrat run Cities."

"At the same time, someone should not be a criminal in Florida, when this is legal in so many other States. We do not need to ruin lives & waste Taxpayer Dollars arresting adults with personal amounts of it on them, and no one should grieve a loved one because they died from fentanyl laced marijuana. We will make America SAFE again! " he concluded.

Winning these 2 states would make Harris or Trump 'overwhelming favorites' to win election

The breakdown of Electoral College math changed after President Joe Biden dropped out of the 2024 race and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris. But two battlegrounds remain must-win states in the contest between Harris and former President Donald Trump.

According to the Wall Street Journal, both campaigns have zeroed in on Georgia and Pennsylvania as the cornerstones to their overall victory. While there are other hotly contested swing states up for grabs like Arizona, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina and Wisconsin, there is a growing consensus among both Democrats and Republicans that their most direct path to 270 requires securing both Georgia and Pennsylvania in their own respective win columns. Democratic strategist and former Bill Clinton adviser Doug Sosnik described those states as the two major "pivot points" in the 2024 race.

Trump warned he keeps 'stepping in it' and 'subtracting voters'

During a panel discussion CNN's "The Chris Wallace Show," a conservative pollster and a political commentator both claimed that Donald Trump is playing with fire by alienating voters before what is expected to be a very close election.

Speaking with the host about Donald Trump's visit to Arlington National Cemetery for a photo-op that has set off a wave of outrage, pollster Kristen Soltis Anderson stated she found the whole escapade deplorable and stated it could hurt him with some families of veterans.

Asked by host Wallace "Did Trump's Arlington behavior undercut his message about Afghanistan and the way we got out?" Soltis Anderson replied, " I think it did. I think that his campaign saying we were not in the wrong and we have video to prove it but then that video has not has mysteriously not emerged I think it's interesting and i think that this is, this is just terrible."

ALSO READ: Cruelty is all the Republicans have left

She continued, "But do I think it's actually going to affect things? Just think, it was two weeks ago that we were talking about Trump trying to draw this weird equivalence between the Medal of Honor and the Medal of Freedom. I mean, he has sort of picked fights that people say this is going to cost him with veterans."

"The community of veterans is a very politically diverse community, he had some families there, that's a "Yes. come with us to Section 60' and others that say 'No, we think this guy's a disgrace," she added.

Commentator Kara Swisher suggested the former president is doing nothing to add to the voter pool he needs and, instead, is driving them away with a series of missteps.

"This was a political event for him and then there was some scheme around Kamala Harris," she began. "Every time he manages to step in it, he steps in it and he didn't just end there with the heinous behavior."

"My dad was in the military until he died, "she continued. "For me this is so offensive, and I can't can't believe someone did this and then pushed around an employee."

"So but how about Kristen's point? " host Wallace interjected. "You find it offensive, a lot of stuff is offensive."

"You have to be offended. I think most people whose parents went into the military would be offended, but that's okay," she countered. "You don't have to be but then he like tops it by doing the the other thing around Kamala Harris, tweeting something about sexual activity, which is comparing her and Hillary Clinton in a really grotesque way. He's just one after the next after the next, and it's offensive to someone somewhere. He's not adding voters, he's subtracting voters."
