'Nothing short of incredible': Experts stunned by new polling on Harris-Trump race

A new poll finding Vice President Kamala Harris leading former President Donald Trump by six points in the upcoming presidential election has shocked political insiders and experts.

The Marquette Law School Poll national survey found Harris preferred by 53 percent of likely voters while Trump was the choice of only 47 percent, according to a Wednesday press release. In May, the same poll found Trump leading President Joe Biden by two points, with a 51-49 split among likely voters.

'Easy to live in Trump’s head': Harris aides hint at how they are rattling  ex-president

As part of a deep dive into how Donald Trump's presidential campaign has been spiraling into chaos and finger-pointing as the campaign of Vice President Kamala is soaring with massive rally crowds and a flood of donations, the Washington Post is reporting that aides to Harris are taking credit for derailing what had been a well-disciplined Trump campaign.

As the Post's Josh Dawsey and Michael Sheerer are reporting, the former president has been hunkered down at Mar-a-Lago fuming to friends over how "unfair" it is that he now has to face Harris instead of President Joe Biden, while also raging about her rallies that are drawing massive and boisterous crowds.

Those crowds, and reports about them, are reportedly knocking the Trump campaign off the rails by making the former president question if he is being well-served by the inner circle running his third bid for the Oval Office.

According to the Post, Harris' people have figured out a way to manage the former president who, in turn, is making life miserable for his campaign staff.

"Democrats and some in Trump’s orbit have tried to highlight social media posts from Trump advisers and allies that they say show fear or bad messaging, while trying to stoke division in other ways," the report notes. "The Harris campaign has circulated posts and news releases about his staff, the pick of Sen. JD Vance (Ohio) as his running mate, crowd size, and other topics they say will grate on Trump and cause him to say controversial things."

One Harris aide suggested talking about the size of the Harris rally being bigger than Trump's is having an effect on how the ex-president moves forward as the vice president's prospects of keeping Trump out of the White House experience a massive jump.

“It’s easy to live in Donald Trump’s head,” they explained.

"A Tuesday afternoon post from Trump on his Truth Social media site — which included a number of nicknames, falsehoods and baseless accusations — suggested he was still steaming," the report added.

'Come defend it': Josh Hawley and Lucas Kunce trade jabs over Missouri Senate debates

The question of when – or whether – Missouri’s U.S. Senate candidates will debate opened up the fall campaign, with incumbent Republican Josh Hawley challenging Democratic nominee Lucas Kunce to an outdoor clash without moderators and Kunce calling for five televised events.

Kunce, who is making his second run for the Senate, easily won the Democratic primary on Tuesday, while Hawley was unopposed for a second term as the Republican nominee. There will be an independent candidate, Jared Young, on the ballot under the Better Party label, as well as Libertarian W.C. Young.

'Baffled and alarmed': Trump team insiders reveal donors are scared as campaign flails

Team Trump insiders Thursday revealed details of a campaign desperately struggling to keep up with Vice President Kamala Harris and assuage concerns about the former president's out-of-control rants and his running mate's unlikable demeanor, a new report shows.

Trump privately fuming about Harris rally crowds and massive fundraising haul: report

In a deep dive into Donald Trump's reeling 2024 presidential campaign since Vice President Kamala Harris ascended to the top of the ticket after President Joe Biden stepped aside, the Washington Post is reporting the former president is lashing out in all directions at the hand fate has dealt him.

After pointing out that the ex-president — whose legal future is murky if he is not re-elected — has been complaining that it is "unfair" for Democrats to run Harris against him instead of Biden, the report notes that the Harris campaign, now that Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) has been added to the ticket as the vice presidential candidate, is getting under Trump's skin in a new way.

As the Post notes, Trump insiders claim the former president is lashing out at his campaign staff over Harris' fundraising cash haul and the large and boisterous crowds she has been drawing to her rallies in numbers that are dwarfing his.

GOP strategist warns Trump about potential 'backfire' of J.D. Vance's 'real creepy' move

Donald Trump's running mate, J.D. Vance, could have just hurt their presidential campaign with a move some on both sides of the aisle are calling "real creepy."

A CNN host early Thursday morning highlighted an "awkward moment" from the day before, when Vance "approached Kamala Harris' Air Force Two while his plane and her plane were both on the same Wisconsin tarmac."

'Who thought this was a good idea?' Conservative hits J.D. Vance over Kamala Harris stunt

On Thursday morning, MSNBC's "Morning Joe" regular conservative Charlie Sykes harshly criticized Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) for what he called earlier in the morning a "pathetic weird stalking act" involving Vice President Kamala Harris' plane late Wednesday afternoon.

According to "Morning Joe" host Mika Brzezinski, Donald Trump's vice presidential running mate and a group of aides fast walked towards Air Force Two, which was sitting on the tarmac in Wisconsin where both candidates were making appearances, with Vance smirking at reporters and claiming, "I just wanted to check out my future plane."

Using a new nickname for Vance that is growing in popularity, Brzezinski prompted her guest with, "I've got to tell you, 'J.V. Vance' kind of fits right here. Your thoughts?"

"Who thought this was a good idea?" the conservative Sykes exclaimed. "I mean, really? To put the vice presidential candidate on this weird stalking routine. And that gimmick was lame with hair on it, it was just embarrassing."

"Awkward," Brzezinski interjected.

"Yeah, it was cringe, it was awkward, in part, because as we were talking before, the split screen between this enthusiastic, happy warrior campaign, and then there is J.D. Vance who bumbles easy questions about, what makes you smile?" Sykes replied. "He couldn't even come up with something that made him sound like an authentic human being."

"Later, he was asked by a Wisconsin reporter, you know, 'In Wisconsin, I want to have a beer with you,' and he bumbled that," he continued. "It's like he can't even bring himself to say something just, you know, normal about all of this."

"J.D. Vance has shown himself willing to do things that would be beneath the dignity of most politicians in America, on both the right and the left," Sykes elaborated. "He is willing to say things to engage in the kinds of below-the-belt, unfair, dishonest, vile attacks that I think most politicians, I think, would say, 'You know what? Let somebody else do that or 'That's really not where we want to go in this campaign.' But with Donald Trump, you know, sitting in splendid isolation down in Mar-a-Lago, what have they got?"'

'Sick': Ex-GOP lawmaker debunks Trump's 'inaccurate' attacks on Tim Walz's military record

Donald Trump and his GOP allies have jumped on a new angle of attack when it comes to Kamala Harris' running mate, but it is "inaccurate" and won't work, according to a former Republican lawmaker.

Trump and others have questioned Tim Walz's military record, suggesting he "abandoned" his platoon when he ran for a political office after decades of service in the reserves.

'It's unfair': Trump reportedly lashing out at his own campaign staff in calls to friends

Vice President Kamala Harris' ascension to the top spot on the Democratic ticket has Donald Trump snarling about his own campaign staff in calls to close allies, according to a report from the Washington Post.

As the Democrats' presidential nominee's campaign has roared to life, abetted by the selection of folksy Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN), the former president's own campaign now appears fractured as his inner circle seems unsure about how to go after Harris and her running mate.

Adding to the behind-the-scenes chaos is Trump himself who is furious that he now has to face the V.P. instead of Biden and is pointing fingers everywhere at the same time he is staying off the campaign trial.

"Trump now finds himself back in a dead-even contest and with new signs of strain in his orbit. In the face of new Democratic momentum, he has grown increasingly upset about Harris’s surging poll numbers and media coverage since replacing Biden on the ticket, complaining relentlessly and asking friends about how his campaign is performing, according to five people close to the campaign," the Post reported before adding, "Friends, Mar-a-Lago members and donors have logged their concerns with Trump, who then tells them to others, according to three people close to him. U.S. Senate allies and others are trying to get Trump focused on attacking Harris."

The report notes that in a recent phone call to an ally, he complained, “It’s unfair that I beat him [Joe Biden] and now I have to beat her, too."

The report goes on to note that, for the first time, Trump's campaign is back on its heels, pointing out, "It has left people close to the campaign wondering why Trump and his team seemed ill-prepared."

According to longtime GOP strategist Kevin Madden, "What’s happened in the last couple of weeks is we actually have a real race. This is a real presidential campaign. The Biden-Trump version of this was one event a week by each candidate, very rarely on the campaign trail and no real engagement. Now this is going to be one of those campaigns where strategies matter, resources matter, time matters, and there is not much room for error.”

Fox News host tells Democrats to 'reject your crazies' — then defends 'not crazy' Trump

Fox News' Greg Gutfeld insisted on Wednesday's edition of "The Five" that the Democratic Party needs to do more to reject their "crazies" the way Republicans do — then laughingly dismissed Democratic counterpart Jessica Tarlov when she pointed out they have done nothing to reject former President Donald Trump, who easily won renomination for the third time in a row despite inciting a riot at the U.S. Capitol four years ago.

"You know, we reject our crazies," said Gutfeld. "It's time for you guys to reject them. Give me a crazy person. I'll reject 'em."

'Hangdog ex-husband' Vance set up for failure with 'stalker tour' of Harris: columnist

The Nation's Joan Walsh is out with a column calling J.D. Vance a "stalker" for following Vice President Kamala Harris around the country.

"The rollicking Harris-Walz lovefest was in sharp contrast with Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance’s dour appearance in Philly earlier in the day," Walsh described. "Vance is scheduled to trail the pair to all the swing states they plan to visit this week. What is Donald Trump doing, sending his weirdo running mate out to stalk the charismatic Democratic duo, like a hangdog ex-husband? The low-energy Trump has exactly one event this week, in the critical swing state of… Montana."

Trump seems like he's 'telegraphing that he knows he's going to lose': MSNBC host Wallace

Former Republican communications staffer and current MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace has done her time on GOP campaigns and in George W. Bush's White House, but Donald Trump tends to leave her stumped.

Speaking to a panel of election experts Wednesday, Wallace said ongoing efforts to change election rules and certification laws contrast with Trump's desperation to appear strong. The reality, she said, is he's losing.
