Haley ruffled feathers in SC Legislature. Now, many lawmakers haven’t backed her 2024 bid

COLUMBIA, S.C. — When Nikki Haley was first elected to the South Carolina State House, she didn’t have many friends. It was a consequence of her ousting a 30-year incumbent in the Republican primary. And when she became governor six years later, Haley continued to go up against establishment Republicans, which included her continued call for required on-the-record voting for all bills and all sections of the state’s annual spending plan. Many lawmakers didn’t like that, and Haley didn’t care. But lawmakers in the State House, including those who were present for Haley’s time in office, have lo...

If he wins nomination, Cornel West will be on the Green Party ballot in Florida in 2024

When he announced his third-party candidacy for president last month, philosopher, academic, and activist Dr. Cornel West said he would run on the People’s Party ticket, a relatively little known organization whose platform calls for stopping all foreign military aid, hand counting paper ballots in election. and abolishing medical debt.

Since then, he’s said that he’ll also contend for the Green Party nomination for president.

That means that if he does wind up as the Green nominee next year, West would appear on the ballot in Florida, alongside President Joe Biden and whomever the Republican Party nominates during their party’s convention next summer.

'Mockery': Openly gay GOP ex-lawmaker ditches DeSantis over 'disgusting' anti-LGBTQ attack ad

A former Republican state lawmaker says she was “Team DeSantis” before the Florida GOP governor and flailing presidential candidate’s campaign over the weekend promoted a viciously anti-LGBTQ ad she says is part of his “morally wrong” and “politically misguided” attacks on LGBTQ people. Now, she says, “you couldn’t pay” her to vote for him.

The ad, which she calls “the most anti-LGBTQ+ ad in recent history,” is a video (below) that went viral on social media with more than 20 million views after it was reposted by Ron DeSantis‘ presidential campaign. In an apparent effort to sway far-right Republican voters over to DeSantis, it falsely paints Donald Trump as pro-LGBTQ and the Florida governor as a warrior against the LGBTQ community.

Ron DeSantis is 'losing' voters and 'alienating' them: columnist

The Guardian's Richard Luscombe can't help but notice that Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) appears to have peaked too soon, and the more people get to know him, the less they want to vote for him. Luscombe has dubbed it "how to lose friends and alienate people." It's a take off of Dale Carnegie's "How to Win Friends and Influence People."

"By almost every measure, the rightwinger has had another lackluster week on the campaign trail, with 'clumsy' missteps in New Hampshire, Texas, California and New York," the report explained. "Now, barely one month after his glitch-ridden launch on Twitter, DeSantis finds himself sinking in the polls, closer to the large field of optimists below him than the twice-indicted, twice-impeached former president who retains a stranglehold over the Republican Party."

'You didn't answer my question': Mike Pence misquotes MLK when grilled on Affirmative Action

ABC host Jonathan Karl grilled former Vice President Mike Pence, a Republican presidential candidate, about his views on Affirmative Action after the U.S. Supreme Court said that race could not be used as a factor in college admissions.
