'Punishment is the process': Expert calls Trump's bluff over attack on Dem senator

A former Bush administration official is calling the Trump administration out on its bluff to prosecute Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ) over comments he made urging service members to defy illegal orders, suggesting on Fox News Tuesday that the administration is well aware that its criminal probe is unwinnable.

Kelly had participated in a video published last week in which several Democratic lawmakers urged active duty service members to defy unlawful orders, a video that sparked outrage from President Donald Trump, who went on to accuse the lawmakers of “seditious behavior” and threatened to execute them.

'Moment of truth' imminent as military brass pushed to turn on Trump: DC insider

Donald Trump’s attack on members of Congress who served in the military for advising those currently serving not to follow illegal orders could have a ripple effect that blows up on him, an expert warned Tuesday.

During an appearance on MS NOW, longtime Washington D.C. observer John Heilemann suggested the president may face a reckoning now that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is going after Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ), a popular former Navy pilot and astronaut.

Shutdown figures show Trump's popularity has now fallen through floor: 'Democrats won'

CNN chief data analyst Harry Enten examined fresh polling that showed the record-long government shutdown significantly weakened President Donald Trump's political position and lessened the Republican Party's chances of maintaining their congressional majorities.

The 43-day shutdown ended nearly two weeks ago, but Enten said the damage has already been done to the GOP's standing less than a year before the 2026 midterm elections.

Humiliated Lindsey Halligan insists underlings still refer to her as 'US attorney'

Despite a brutal courtroom loss in which a judge called her a “former White House aide” instead of "counsel," defiant Donald Trump appointee Lindsey Halligan is insisting she still be referred to as “U.S. attorney” in all filings and documents.

The former insurance attorney was memorialized in Senior U.S. District Judge Cameron McGowan Currie's opinion, where the judge wrote, “On September 25, 2025, Lindsey Halligan, a former White House aide with no prior prosecutorial experience, appeared before a federal grand jury in the Eastern District of Virginia. Having been appointed Interim U.S. Attorney by the Attorney General just days before, Ms. Halligan secured a two-count indictment charging former FBI Director James B. Comey, Jr. with making false statements to Congress and obstructing a congressional proceeding.”

Morning Joe blasts 'stupid' GOP for accidentally making Democrats the 'party of vets'

“Morning Joe” host Joe Scarborough on Tuesday did not hold back, using the word “stupid” four times in a rant about the Pentagon’s decision to investigate Sen. Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.) for appearing in a video urging service members not to follow illegal orders.

“How stupid do you have to — like, I have Republicans saying, ‘I can't believe how dumb we are.’ We continue to throw a fit over the president's right to issue illegal orders, and we're putting military heroes from the Democratic Party constantly on television, thereby branding the Democratic Party as a party of veterans, of CIA agents, of all the things that Republicans don't want Americans to know about the Democratic Party,” Scarborough said.

'One of the dumbest controversies': GOP pundit clowns White House over latest freakout

After President Donald Trump threatened to execute several Democratic lawmakers who urged service members to defy illegal orders, one conservative commentator is pushing back on the administration for what he labeled as “one of the dumbest controversies” he’d seen.

“I really wish both sides would take it down a notch,” said Andy McCarthy, a conservative commentator and former assistant U.S. attorney, appearing on Fox News Tuesday.

Morning Joe rages over GOP's doom loop of 'Trump derangement idiocy' after latest threat

A decision by Pentagon Secretary Pete Hegseth to threaten to court-martial Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ), a Navy pilot and astronaut, while Kelly’s GOP colleagues stand by and watch will haunt Republicans forever.

That's the thinking of MS NOW’s “Morning Joe” co-host Joe Scarborough, who used the Hegseth threat as an example of how GOP lawmakers and the president's inner circle are trapped in a doom-loop of what he called ‘Trump derangement idiocy” as they cater to his worst impulses.

'GOP may get a spine': Ex-Fox News host flags 'biggest political story' as she rips Trump

A former Fox News anchor on Monday flagged a deepening divide between President Donald Trump and the Republican Party, which she described as the "biggest political story" of the last 10 days.

Congress passed legislation to force the Trump administration to release the Jeffrey Epstein files about 10 days ago. The legislation included a 30-day deadline for the release and was supported by a veto-proof majority of lawmakers.

'Pretty alarming': Ex-GOP strategist 'blown away' by MAGA darling's wild new theory

A former GOP strategist said on Monday that he was "blown away" when he heard a MAGA darling's latest conspiracy theory.

Last week, Candace Owens claimed in a post on X that the governments of Israel and France were trying to assassinate her. She made the accusation after creating several episodes of her popular podcast, where she accused the Israeli government of assassinating conservative activist Charlie Kirk and said French President Emmanuel Macron's wife is transgender.

Ex-US attorneys say Lindsey Halligan's disqualification puts entire office 'in jeopardy'

On Monday, a judge ruled that acting U.S. Attorney Lindsey Halligan was improperly appointed, and subsequently dismissed her indictments of former FBI Director James Comey and New York Attorney General Letitia James (D). Former federal prosecutors are now saying that the judge's ruling may have thrown all of her office's work into question.

During a Monday segment on CNN, former U.S. attorneys Harry Litman — who led the Department of Justice's (DOJ, or Main Justice) operations in the Western District of Pennsylvania under former President Bill Clinton's tenure — and Greg Brower, who handled cases in the District of Nevada during the George W. Bush and Barack Obama administrations, both agreed that anything bearing Halligan's name is likely now damaged goods.

Trump just got a 'powerful' message that could 'cripple' his power: Ex-GOP analyst

With Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) planning to resign from Congress after years as a loyal MAGA footsoldier, her farewell statement laden with disillusionment against Trump's movement is a flashing danger sign for the president that his whole base could fracture, former GOP speechwriter Tim Miller told MSN NOW's Nicolle Wallace on Monday.

"Your thoughts on this moment for Donald Trump and Marjorie Taylor Greene?" asked Wallace.

Nicolle Wallace floored as Republicans act like 'prisoners' — whose doors aren't locked

MS NOW host Nicolle Wallace said on Monday that Republicans are acting like political prisoners who remain in captivity even though the door to their proverbial jail cell is unlocked.

Wallace, host of "Deadline: White House," noted during the Monday broadcast of her show that Republicans have seemingly followed President Donald Trump in lockstep as he dismantled the independence of Congress. For instance, Trump has sought to withhold Congressionally approved funding through recissions unilaterally, and his administration has conducted several strikes on alleged drug boats, moves that some experts have said require the approval of Congress.

'He's taken their bait': Strategist in awe as Trump falls into Democrats' trap

A former Biden administration official Monday commented that President Donald Trump is getting distracted from focusing on the economy — what people actually care about — and instead has pointed fingers at Democrats who are actively fighting back against him.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and the Pentagon on Monday threatened to court-martial Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ) after Trump accused Democratic senators of "treason" over the video last week featuring lawmakers with military and intelligence backgrounds telling military members to remember to disobey unlawful orders.
