'Shut up!' House floor groans as Republican rebukes Dem for calling Trump a felon

Rep. Andrew Clyde's (R-GA) rebuke of Democratic Del. Stacey Plakett (USVI) for calling President Donald Trump a felon earned groans both online and on the House floor.

Plaskett was censured by the House on Tuesday over revelations she inappropriately coordinated and communicated with Jeffrey Epstein during a congressional hearing in 2019. The Washington Post reported on newly released documents showing Plaskett exchanged texts with the sex offender while she participated in a House Oversight grilling of Michael Cohen, former attorney and "fixer" for Trump. The censure resolution said she incorporated Epstein’s suggestions into her line of questioning, and reflecting poorly on the House.

During a press conference, a reporter asked MBS about the murder of former Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi in 2018. Trump jumped in to answer the question and said Khashoggi was a "controversial figure" and that "a lot of people didn't like him." WATCH: House tees up to vote on releasing Epstein files

The House was convening Tuesday to consider a landmark vote on a bill that could compel the Justice Department to release all of its files on Jeffrey Epstein, a bill that President Donald Trump had fought fiercely against but reversed course on Sunday after calling on Republicans to support it.

The vote comes after a months-long effort from Reps. Thomas Massie (R-KY) and Ro Khanna (D-CA) to collect 218 signatures on what’s known as a discharge petition, a tool to circumvent House leadership and force a vote on a particular measure on the House floor. That measure is a bill that, if signed into law by Trump, would force the DOJ to release every file it has on Epstein, of which tens of thousands – if not more – are believed to exist.

And I think this is something that's going to dog Republicans and the president because he said something similar.”
