'Ticking time bomb': Ex-Republican gov says warning signs about Mark Robinson were ignored

Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson was always going to wreck things for the North Carolina Republican Party, former GOP Gov. Pat McCrory told CNN's Boris Sanchez on Friday.

Robinson, who was already controversial for a series of past statements questioning the Holocaust, attacking school shooting survivors, and several other issues, was exposed by CNN's KFILE as having called himself a "Black Nazi," fantasizing about owning slaves, and boasting about an affair with his wife's sister on a pornographic message board years before he entered politics. Robinson denies all of this and says he was framed by AI.

Watch: Tim Walz gives car maintenance tips — then launches attack on Project 2025

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, the Democratic candidate for vice president, is out with a new video that simultaneously offers advice for how to work on old cars — and warns about the dangers posed by Project 2025.

"All right," said Walz, standing over the engine of the exposed bay of the vehicle. "This thing, old school carburetor. You can always tell something about somebody's maintenance when how clean their air filter is. Look, to be able to work on this thing, you've got a manual. It shows you exactly what to do to fix things on this."

After Oprah, Harris resolves interview issue by answering ‘most searched questions’

The Harris-Walz campaign has been taking heat for its decision to not spend time doing formal interviews or press conferences with many mainstream media reporters, but instead, find other ways to reach voters that allow the Democratic presidential nominee help the electorate get to know her on her terms and in more casual settings.

Thursday night, Harris sat down with Oprah Winfrey for a "star-studded and, at times, deeply emotional 1.5-hour-long event, set up to mimic Winfrey’s former television show," as Politico reported, that "was live streamed on multiple social platforms."

'Kiss this seat goodbye': CNN conservative hits panic button over November election

According to conservative CNN political analyst Shermichael Singleton, the Republican party suffered a body blow late Thursday that could have a major impact on who wins the presidency in November.

Speaking with host John Berman about the bombshell report on North Carolina gubernatorial nominee Mark Robinson and his comments on an adult website where he described sexual acts that CNN refused to even describe, Singleton stated the GOP needs to exhaust every legal means to rid itself of the highly problematic lieutenant governor.

As he told Berman, he is concerned over the impact Robinson will have on down-ticket races for Republican before adding, "This guy is not going to win this race. I can just make that very clear now, he's just not going to win. He's been behind for I think several months now by pretty substantial margins"

"They decided to go with this guy and look at the results. This is someone that they clearly didn't do opposition research on. This is someone who certainly is a vulnerability and a liability and, in my personal opinion as a strategist, they need to kick him out," he added. "Forget that 'Well, let's just see what happens,' force him out of this."

"The deadline was last night, but do you get on stage Saturday and cut him loose and say, you know what..." host Berman interjected before Singleton interrupted him and stated, "You know what? Whatever legal maneuvering they need to figure out if possible, right, because I'm not sure of the state laws there. But if there is some way to replace them with someone else, they need to figure that out. Otherwise, they can just kiss this seat goodbye."

Trump is 'at a moment of desperation' as election slips away: MSNBC analyst

Reacting to the increasingly harsh rhetoric about immigrants coming out of Donald Trump's campaign, MSNBC political analyst Elise Jordan suggested the former president has become desperate.

During a discussion on threats from Republicans to let the government shut down if they can't tie a new budget bill to the so-called SAVE act which would make voting more difficult for minorities, Jordan pointed out that the former president is hoping for a shutdown as a political ploy to help his campaign.

With MSNBC host Joe Scarborough stating, "Donald Trump is again leading them down a dangerous electoral path," Jordan replied, "Donald Trump doesn't actually care about the functioning of the American government and that American citizens have government institutions that are funded and able to respond to their needs."

"He cares about scoring political points right now," she accused. "You look at what happened with the border bill: there was a chance for there to be bipartisan agreement to do something about the crisis at the border, but, no, Donald Trump torpedoes it."

"He's not interested in policy and doing anything that actually helps the American people. He only is out for himself and his narrow electoral interest, which is why we're seeing increased fear-mongering. Him using words like 'infested' and 'dehumanizing' to immigrants and migrants," she elaborated. "We're hearing that because he is in a moment of desperation."

"It reminds me of 2018 when he was ranting about the caravans of migrants coming over the border: that was an election where he was nervous. He didn't fare as well. I think this is just repeating again," she predicted.

'What a denial!' Conservative buried for defending Trump's insults against Jewish voters

CNN's Scott Jennings was buried by his fellow panelists for defending Donald Trump for saying that “the Jewish people” would be partially to blame if he loses the election.

The former president told a gathering of Republicans at an event promoted as opposing antisemitism that any Jewish person who voted for Kamala Harris "should have their head examined" and falsely claimed the vice president had accepted the support of "Hamas sympathizers, antisemites, Israel haters on college campuses and everywhere else," and Jennings argued that was effective messaging.

'Today's your lucky day': CNN conservative put on the spot over Mark Robinson scandal

CNN's Scott Jennings drew the unenviable assignment of providing a conservative defense of embattled North Carolina gubernatorial candidate Mark Robinson, after reports emerged about shocking comments he made years ago on a smutty online forum.

The Donald Trump-endorsed Republican candidate flatly denied the comments, including an anecdote about spying on a women's locker room and stating "I'm a black NAZI," as well as extremely graphic comments about his sexual activities and pornographic preferences, and Jennings was put on the spot about how the latest controversy would affect the presidential race in the crucial swing state.

'No one said that!' CNN guest laughs in disbelief as heated panelists shout at each other

Minutes after a CNN panel devolved into chaos Thursday night during a discussion over the GOP's support of candidates accused of wrongdoing, the same panelists shouted over each other again — this time during a heated discussion over whether former President Donald Trump killed an immigration bill.

Earlier in the night, the discussion on CNN's "NewsNight" became heated when social media influencer Leigh McGowan questioned how Republicans can stand by candidates accused of serious wrongdoing. Her question, directed at Republicans on the panel, came as the panel reacted to a report that surfaced comments purportedly made by North Carolina Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson, in which an account linked to Robinson proclaimed he was a "Black Nazi" and fantasized about owning slaves.
