Vice President Kamala Harris has backed Donald Trump into a political corner that he'll have to fight his way out of in a debate, the former president's onetime communications director said Friday.

'Just a lie': Fox's Harris Faulkner scrambles to talk over guest's Trump attack

Former New York Democratic State Sen. David Carlucci on Friday slapped down claims made by former President Donald Trump and his allies that Vice President Kamala Harris is more left-wing than Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), who is an avowed democratic socialist.

While appearing on Fox News, Carlucci was asked by host Harris Faulkner to respond to Democratic strategist James Carville warning Democrats to not get too excited about Harris being their new nominee because she would have to face a flurry of right-wing attacks that she would have to answer for.

'Bad move': Even Fox News' Tomi Lahren is second-guessing GOP attacks on Kamala Harris

Fox News' Tomi Lahren, who has never been shy about lobbing vicious personal attacks against Democratic politicians, thinks that Republicans would be making a mistake to go after Vice President Kamala Harris on such grounds.

While discussing Harris' ascent to the top of the Democratic ticket, Lahren said that all of the newfound hype surrounding her candidacy is "cheesy," but she warned conservatives that the candidate had given Democrats a needed jolt of energy that could make the election harder for former President Donald Trump to win.

'I hope she eats him alive': Giddy panel of seniors looking forward to Harris/Trump debate

Any hope that Donald Trump's campaign may have had that the elevation of Vice President Kamala Harris as the projected Democratic party's presidential candidate may be off-putting to elderly white voters suffered a bit of blow on Friday during a CNN report.

In a clip featuring elderly voters in the key state of Pennsylvania, CNN's John King found a smattering of senior white voters who are not fans of Donald Trump in the least with one simply describing him as a "monster."

While CNN's Sara Sidner introduced the segment with, "Some say they are energized by Harris' has run while others aren't sure," King asked for a show of hands if any of them were "more optimistic" with Harris as the candidate, three out of four agreed.

According to voter Pamela Aita, who disagreed, "I don't think a lot of men will vote for Harris, I just don't. Whether you're a Democrat, Republican, whatever, I just don't think the majority of men are ready for a female president."

Asked "Who wants to see them debate," one unidentified woman blurted, "Oh yeah!" as all four raised their hands.

With King reporting all of them are "bursting with energy" over the Harris campaign, another told him, "I don't even like to hear the word Trump," she then added she calls him a "monster."

When voter Larry Malinconico was asked, "Are you looking forward to Harris debating Trump?" he shot back, "Absolutely. I'm hoping she'll just eat him alive."

Pat Levin, 95, advised Harris, "Get into those swing states and show her enthusiasm and her stamina strength, and be able to communicate strongly."

Trump in a 'sour mood' now that Harris has taken 'the spotlight' from him: news columnist

Washington Post columnist Eugene Robinson on Friday suggested that former President Donald Trump is seething with jealousy now that Vice President Kamala Harris is drawing away media attention from him.

During a discussion on MSNBC about President Joe Biden's decision this week to pass the baton to his vice president by dropping out of the 2024 presidential race, Robinson said that it had generated a surge in enthusiasm within the party that would make the 2024 Democratic National Convention the "party of the year" in a few weeks.

Deep dive CNN report debunks Mike Johnson threat to Kamala Harris

A new survey of election law in all 50 states apparently destroys House Speaker Mike Johnson's claims about Vice President Kamala Harris' eligibility for the ballot.

The Louisiana Republican argued that legal "impediments" in some states would prevent Democrats from switching out President Joe Biden as the nominee after he withdrew from the race, but election authorities from both parties in at least 48 states told CNN that no obstacles would prevent Harris from appearing on ballots if she becomes the official presidential nominee.

Timing of hush money ruling could blow up in Trump's face during debate with Kamala Harris

Reacting to reports that the office of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is pushing back at efforts by Donald Trump's lawyers to have the results of his 34-felony count hush money trial tossed on immunity grounds, MSNBC legal analyst Lisa Rubin claimed there's more at play than whether Judge Juan Merchan will agree.

Appearing on Friday's "Morning Joe," Rubin said the ruling could come down on Sept. 6 which could be problematic with a proposed presidential debate with Vice President Kamala Harris on tap at about the same time.

Speaking with fill-in host Jonathan Lemire, she explained, "Well, first of all, the judge has to make a determination about whether or not there is going to be a sentencing, but what's really important here, and I think this plays into the political calendar here, too, is that the judge has already committed he is going to make a decision about whether to set aside the verdict by September 6th."

"So when you hear the Trump campaign sort of backing away from the 'Anytime, anyplace, we'll debate Joe Biden,' which should have applied to Kamala Harris, as well, note that part may be contingent on what is going to happen on September 6th," she elaborated.

"If this conviction is upheld as many people suspect, you can understand why Trump would be very eager to avoid a debate with the person we are all referring to now as the person who is prosecuting the case, the biggest case, against Donald Trump," she claimed.

'Under his skin': Trump busted for reason he's 'rage-tweeting at 2:00AM'

According to former Republican National Committee chair Michael Steele, Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign's rapid response efforts and their "flexibility" is driving Donald Trump nuts, which is leading to a frenzy of late-night Truth Social "rage-tweeting."

Appearing on MSNBC's "Morning Joe," the co-host of MSNBC's "The Weekend" agreed with fill-in host Jonathan Lemire's claim that statements from the Harris campaign labeling the ex-president and his running mate Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) as "weird" is having an effect on Trump's psyche.

Calling the Harris campaign staff, "a little bit more aggressive, a little bit more edgy," than what was coming out of President Joe Biden's now-ended campaign, he explained, "That balance is something they'll do over the next couple of weeks."

"They'll have to layer into that, obviously, a vice presidential pick whose tone and the nuance of that will also have to get factored in," he continued. "But I love the flexibility here. I love the in-your-face, we're not going to lie down and curl up in the corner just because Donald Trump is rage-tweeting at 2:00AM — which says a lot if he is doing that. Which means this team has gotten under his skin. This team is going to be competitive."

"Will there be stumbles? Yes, because that is the nature of the game," he added. "But how they recover from that and how they set that up, I think, becomes the next side of the conversation going into the [Democratic] convention."
